UpdatedOld = 2

Return only the updated attributes, as they were before the write, DynamoDB name UPDATED_OLD.

Return the whole item as it is after the write, DynamoDB name ALL_NEW.

UpdatedNew = 4

Remarks

None (the default) sends nothing, and DynamoDB returns nothing, which is also what its NONE means. PutItem and DeleteItem accept only None and AllOld; UpdateItem accepts all. DynamoDB rejects other combinations with a ValidationException.
